A new report by LSE Cities and Victoria Transport Policy Institute argues that development ‘sprawl’ is costing America more and more each year as we keep on expending our communities with bigger houses further and further away from city centers.

The study explains that sprawl increases automobile us and it’s related costs/environmental impact, traffic accidents, while also requiring extensive public infrastructure.

Further, sprawl can reduce mobility options such as walking, cycling or public transit options which impacts human health, financial decisions and quality of life.

Our hope is that cities will try to work to change our ‘sprawling ways,’ save money and build smart communities where people can work, live and play in responsible, efficient and healthy places!
