The home was designed and built by REAL building in 2007, and participated in the LEED for Homes Pilot Program before the official release of the LEED for Homes certification, becoming the State of Florida’s first LEED Gold certified home.
The project featured many healthy and sustainbile finishes, features and systems including geothermal HVAC, low and no-VOC finishes, rainwater harvesting, graywater re-use, pre-fabricated panel Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs), and native and Florida Friendly landscaping.
